Sweet Potato Baby!

Last week the baby was the size of a turnip, so I decided to skip over that post! This week, we have a sweet potato. That's much cuter than a turnip!

We had a doctor's appointment today and the doctor heard a nice healthy heartbeat (145). When I asked about finding out the gender, he said it wouldn't be until next appointment. BUMMER! He did tell us that he was sure we had a 50% chance of having a boy, so that's exciting. ;)

The Baby is Moving!

In honor of it's daddy's birthday this last weekend, Baby has decided to start moving! It feels just feels like a flutter at this point, but it is definitely the baby. It isn't strong enough yet for Jason to feel the movement, but I'm sure that time will come before we know it! In other news, we hope to know the gender of the baby at this Thursday's OB appointment. I'll be sure to post as soon as we find out. :)

Avocado Baby!

This seems like a bit of a downsize from last week's naval orange! Regardless, I am happy to have graduated to an avocado. I am still shocked at how quickly this little one grows! Not much has changed since last week, but we are beginning to talk about getting things more organized for our little one! Here is what is on our current to-do list:

  • get out some thank you notes for baby gifts thus far
  • finalize baby shower guest list and send hostess the names and addresses
  • update shower registry
  • talk about Godparents
The nursery gets a separate to-do list:
  • box up all the books in the guest room and put the bookcases in the attic
  • buy a daybed (assuming we can get it to fit with everything else!)
  • buy a rug
  • replace the old light
  • replace closet doors
  • organize closet to accommodate baby's things as well as Jason's suits. Ugh.
  • buy a dresser/changing table

Livin' Large

Unbelievably, I'm already bigger than I was in these pictures from a week-and-a-half ago! I am getting to the point where the bump is becoming pretty impossible to hide anymore.

Though I absolutely love my bump, finding dresses to wear for recent performances has been frustrating to say the least. My closet full of adorable performance dresses barely fit my bulging belly and the ones that do look ridiculous!

The dress below is one of my few dresses that still looks decent:

I have a bunch of gigs coming up and would really love to have a little bit of variety. Always one for a deal, I found this stunning J.Crew dress for $100 off the original price! I tried it on in a size up from what I normally wear and it fit brilliantly! The sash gives the illusion of a waist and the bump is camouflaged by the pleating.

It is also one that will work after the baby is born. Score!

It won't be long before I'm unable to wear non-maternity clothes for good. So sad. The good news is that I have three amazing sisters-in-law who have generously shared their adorable maternity clothes with me! Hurray!

Well orange you cute!

I somehow skipped a week in our baby's fruit progression, but who's counting?!

I am happy to be in my second trimester! Woo hoo! Many women wake up on the day they hit their second trimester and all of their first trimester ailments have miraculously disappeared! Unfortunately, that was not the case with me! The good news is that my symptoms have been so mild that I really can't complain that they are still around. Mostly it is just the dizziness. I still can't go into a grocery store without getting dizzy and sick! I've figured out that staring at the floor helps immensely so that has been my plan of attack. If I see a traffic jam up ahead, I have no choice but to slowly roll my cart into the mix of things and hope people get out of the way. If I spend too much time looking up, I'll get so sick and dizzy that I have to abort the entire shopping trip. Not awesome. This is a good compromise for now, but hopefully this too shall pass!

Alien Baby!

We had an appointment with the OB yesterday and it went well! We got to hear the heartbeat and got another ultrasound photo. It isn't exactly the most adorable photo: he/she is slightly reminiscent of an alien or perhaps Skeletor from He-man. But as long as the baby is healthy (which it is) we're not complaining!

A little photo orientation: there are two circles on the photo. The top circle is the head (with the dark spots where the eyes will be) and the bottom circle is the belly (and what a belly it is!!). You can also see the little hands up by his/her shoulders. As they were doing the scan we also got to see the little legs moving around. Too cute! It is still too early to designate a gender, but we should find that out in our next visit. We can't wait!
